Movies that touch us...
There are many movies that touch us in our lives, that strike a chord in us that we cannot shake. I'm a huge movie buff... one of the very first movies I saw in the theater was with my mom, she took me to go see Sleeping Beauty. The part when the evil witch turned into a dragon scared the bujeezus out of me; I was only four. One of my favorite movies as a kid was Xanadu! I loved to roller skate, the music was cool (BeeGees and Andy Gibb, and ELO), and the story was neat and exciting. My childhood friend Tara and I would put on our roller skates and my mother's lipstick and fancy shirts and skate around thinking we were Olivia Newton John. (I know you're laughing, stop it...). Now I tap my toes to the characters of the musical Rent, to Angel DuMont Chanard and Maureen... The movie that holds a lot of tradition with me is Steel Magnolias, in my late teens my mom, grandma, and the rest of the ladies would gather after Christmas dinner was all over and watch the movie. David and I, our favorite movies are Rent, The Lord of the Rings, and Wolf, that was our date movie... not a good movie, but it was good to smooch and make out to. (LOL) I'm having a hard time pinning down what is my favorite movie. I love Top Gun, brings me back to my Navy days, and my teen years... and to the wild summers on the beach. I love Dirty Dancing... Fried Green Tomatos, Where the Heart is... and lately, The Notebook.... oh gosh, I just bawled through that movie. My fun movies are Pirates of the Carribean and Willow... Geez, it's late... I need to get to sleep. I need to scrapbook tomorrow. Part of me doesn't even want to go to church. That's not right. I've got to get right with God... I haven't been lately and it bothers me.
